Surgery

You have just undergone minimally invasive surgery to repair an umbilical/ventral hernia. This involves making a small incision in your abdomen in order to gain access to your hernia or hernias. Permanent stitches are used to close the hernia hole.

Usually local anesthesia with sedation is used instead of general anesthesia, leading to a quicker recovery. Given no mesh is used to help support the repair, activities are usually restricted for around four weeks to ensure good healing and maintenance of a low risk of hernia recurrence.
