Dr Fullington performed lathroscopic inguinal hernia surgery on me at the beginning of June 2021 at Newton Wellesleey Hospital for a recurrence that I had repaired by a general surgeon 15 years ago. The first two days post surgery, incision sites in my abdomen were moderately uncomfortable, took a couple hydrocodone to calm it down, then a few days of Tylenol . The primary discomfort after that was primarily itching as the incisions healed and the stitches dissolved, which I treated with a small amount of Gold Bond Medicated Powder.
Two or three days prior to my follow up, started to experience a fair amount of discomfort at the site of the hernia which had not been there previously, and had me fairly concerned. It felt almost as though I needed to push the hernia back into place as I had been doing prior to the surgery. I had followed directions to limit my activity and lifting, but was nonetheless concerned that I had a recurrence or the mesh had come detached.
Upon my visit, Dr. Fullington conducted an exam and assured me that what I was experiencing was a not unusual part of the recovery, and would resolve itself. A few days after this visit and I can say this seems to be the case.
Yesterday was 3 weeks since my surgery, and I have now began to ramp up my physical activity. I am a 55 year old male with a job that requires constant physical activity and heavy lifting, so I have not yet returned to work. However I will say my experience with Dr. Fullington and her staff was great. She listened sympathetically and addressed all my concerns. She even paid me a visit in post op which has not always been my experience with surgeons. I would highly recommend her to anyone who needed this procedure.
Also, as I mentioned, her staff is outstanding, including the office staff who could not be more helpful with appointments and work related paperwork.
