I was a little nervous at first about hernia repair surgery as I had read the article in Harper’s Magazine about chronic pain after some mesh repairs. Dr. Reinhorn was able to explain where the article was going wrong and also determined that I would not need mesh due to the small size of the hernia and the condition of the surrounding muscle. The surgery, under local anesthesia with sedation, was basically a good nap with little pain, easily managed with acetaminophen. The closure of the wound was a piece of art; it’s almost a shame it’s in a hidden place. Recovery proceeded exactly as I was told it would. I could not be happier. I recommend Dr. Reinhorn to anyone with any kind of hernia. He just instills confidence.
