Art and music have been used for healing for generations. Some medical studies (need link) have shown that patients recover faster and better from surgery when exposed to soothing art. At Boston Hernia we feel that art plays an important role in the patient and provider experience. We partner with local artists to display their work on our walls for four months at a time. We have heard from many of our patients that they find the artwork enjoyable and calming. We feel this effect relaxes our patients and allows them to concentrate on their care, minimizing the stress of talking about surgery. The soothing power of the artwork has wonderful affects on the providers and staff as well. It's wonderful to come to work in an office that looks like a bright art gallery. We feel fortunate to have wonderful artists in our community who enjoy helping our patients, while having a place to show off their work.
We welcome your feedback or interest in displaying your work in our space. Send us and email if you are interested to art@bostonhernia.com
Current Show - July 1 - Oct 31
We are delighted to have the following 4 artists with us:
Deborah Drummond
As an abstract artist, Deborah engages in the artistic process as an expressive exploration. Working primarily in acrylic and other water-based media and without a specific planned outcome, she strives to take advantage of play of materials and instinct to develop her images. The evolution of the process pushes her to pursue the never-ending new experiences it offers.
Although her work is non-representational, it is often inspired by the forms of nature and the figure. Deborah prefers to let intuition and unexpected happenings lead the paintings direction. The evolu
tion of her work method pushes her to the never-ending experiences this process offers.
Deborah can be reached via email at deb@deborahdrummond.com.
Her work can be viewed on her website: www.deborahdrummondart.com
